The Boiler Replacement Allowance is a government funded scheme which aims to help with the cost of replacing your old inefficient boiler*. If your boiler is over 15 years old, you could qualify for a grant of up to £1000 when you upgrade to a new highly efficient natural gas heating system.

  • WHAT IS THE BOILER REPLACEMENT GRANT?

    The Boiler Replacement Allowance is a government scheme which aims to help home owners with the cost of replacing their old, inefficient boilers that are over 15 years old, with an energy efficient condensing boiler. The level of grant available is dependent on total gross income of the household. If you think you qualify, contact NIHE on 03448 920 900 and ask for your local Grants Office or email energyefficiency.psis@nihe.gov.uk The Housing Executive stress that homeowners must not start any work until an approval has been issued.   • AM I ELIGIBLE?

    You must be an owner occupier of the property and have an annual income lower than £40,000. The amount you receive will be dependent on your annual income level:


    • Less than £20,000: £700 towards a boiler installation (or £1,000 with controls)
    • Over £20,000 (up to £40,000): £400 towards a boiler installation (or £500 with controls)

    Your current boiler must be at least 15 years old and you can only have a gas boiler replaced if the gas connection to your home was made 15 or more years ago. The grant cannot be used on Economy 7 heating, back boilers, room heaters or stoves used exclusively for cooking.

  • HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE BOILER REPLACEMENT GRANT?

    To apply for a boiler replacement grant, you can either call the Northern Ireland Housing Executive on 0344 892 0900 or send an email to boiler-replacement@nihe.gov.uk. Providing they are Gas Safe registered, you can actually choose the boiler installer who will carry out the work yourself. In order to replace your boiler, you must first get written approval from the Housing Executive.


    Once you have been awarded the grant, just call us on 028 9034 3665 and we can get you booked in for a free survey. And remember we can claim back all of the awarded amount and we can complete your building control application, making it as stress-free as possible for you.
